Anti Ragging Policy
Ragging: Prohibition, Prevention and Punishment
The University Grants Commission vide its letter No. F.1-16/2007 (CPP-II) dated 17, 2009 has reiterated the ban on ragging of students in Institution of Higher Learning. Ragging is Conspicuous by its Absence in the Campus of Saini Bar College, Bulhowal Distt. Hoshiarpur. Stringent Punishment in the Form of huge fine and even Expulsion from the College act as deterrents to ragging. The Principal and the Members of Anti-Ragging cell are always vigilant and the Campus is totally free of Ragging.
Affidavit by Students and Parents
Each student and his/her parents/guardian shall have to furnish an affidavit alongwith the application form to the effect that they will not participate in or abet the act of ragging and that, if found guilty, shall be liable for punishment under the penal law of India.
What is Ragging?
Any act resulting in:- Mental/Physical/Sexual Abuse
- Verbal Abuse
- Indecent Behaviour
- Criminal Intimidation/Wrongful Restraint
- Undermining Human Dignity
- Financial Exploitation/Extortion
- Use of Force
- Each of the above is a criminal offence
Punishment for Participation in Ragging
- Cancellation of admission from the Institution
- Suspension from attending classes
- His/her Scholarship can be withdrawn/Withholding and other benefits
- Debarring from appearing in any test/examination.
- Fine up to Rs. 25,000/-
- Denied Admission to any Institution
- Prosecuted for Criminal Action
- Institutions have been asked to file FIR with local Police Against those who RAG/ABET Ragging
